2) Article: Can Jobs at Starbucks End World Poverty?
"Stakeholders are not yet masses of enraged poor people storming the streets waving pointy stakes in their hands screaming something about 'no more hogging the wealth.' But what a crowd it would be. "
http://www.livableincome.org/acanstarbucks.htm

3) A Call to Action by Florence Richard:
"It makes no sense to keep plundering our natural resources, to make more widgets which nobody needs or wants and then spend more millions drumming up sales for said widgets. This is not only wasteful of our earthly treasures, it is unconscionably wasteful of human resources and human spirit. What is urgently required is a Guaranteed Livable Income."
http://www.livableincome.org/lflorencer.htm

4) Article: How Jobs Cause Poverty:
Note: This article might be upsetting to many. Others will dismiss it as being preposterous because it is almost universally accepted that jobs are the solution to poverty, not the cause of it.
http://www.livableincome.org/ajobscausepoverty.htm

5) Article: Guaranteed Livable Income and the Golden Rule:
"If people are not entirely sold on the idea of a Guaranteed Livable Income (GLI), then it must mean they are entirely sold on the idea that Full Employment is the only solution to world poverty."
http://www.livableincome.org/agoldenrule.htm

6) Letter from Women for Water in Pt. Alberni BC:
Earth's species VS. the corporations, their investors and their bankers
"RADICAL? What is radical is the death of 43 forest workers in 2005, no fall session in the face of this crisis, Fraser River lowest its been in 90 years of record keeping -- that is radical." http://www.livableincome.org/ljenfisherbradley.htm

7) Poetry: A Strong Nest - our first poem for our poetry section
http://www.livableincome.org/pstrongnest.htm

8) The Wall of Silence: "Looking at the websites of the groups listed below, it appears, for now, that there is an information whiteout on the topic of guaranteed income for these social policy groups in Canada."
http://www.livableincome.org/awallofsilence.htm

9) Article: Read All About It: Vancouver Sun now blames poverty on Victoria activist!
http://www.livableincome.org/areadall.htm

10) Book Review of SocioEconomic Democracy by Robley E. George
"The first two chapters explores richly detailed history and theory of "universal guaranteed personal income" and "maximum allowable personal wealth" followed by a detailed chapter on democracy and how to have quantitative democracy to determine levels for guaranteed income." http://www.livableincome.org/asocioeconreview.htm

11) Download our GLI-Labour Perspective Pamphlet (325 KM)
3-panel pamphlet (double-sided on letter-sized paper) contains quotes as to why a guaranteed income is needed from a labour point of view.
http://www.livableincome.org/GLI-Labour-Perspective.pdf

12) Archives: Statement on Guaranteed Livable Income from the Income group of the Assembly to End Poverty held in Victoria, BC in 2003.
http://www.livableincome.org/agliassembly.htm

13) Archives: Letter to Today's Unemployed written by Steve Brodie in 1996

http://www.livableincome.org/stevebrodie.htm
(Also quotes from interviews with Steve Brodie)

Greetings!
I finally uploaded this picture I took at the Saskatoon Centennial Celebration on August 26th. Kind of hard too see the lanterns on the river, but it still looks pretty! If you want to see some of the lantern shades that were decorated by kids in Saskatoon, come by for coffee at our Ave V Office!
